 s compels him to return to the decommissioned American military base in Ger
 many where he lived in the late 1980s. As a graphic design historian and re
 searcher\, the trip also enables him to visit a monastery in the Eifel mount
 ains of Germany to continue his study of Gothic typography and transcendent
  messaging. When confronted with a crossover of medieval history\, the compl
 exity of the 20th century war years\, and his own path\, he has to choose bet
