When Hurricane Katrina threatens to flood New Orleans, young Celeste and her family are forced to leave their beloved home behind. Determined to make a difference, Celeste later sets her sights on becoming a civil engineer and on figuring out a way to protect her hometown.

Courtney Kelly experienced Hurricane Katrina when living in New Orleans as a child. After attending numerous engineering and math camps in high school, she now holds degrees in civil engineering and math.
